Books I Read in 2012 That I Would Recommend to People Who Go in for This Sort of Thing

Disclaimer: I can't name my favorite or best anything, so I'm not even going to try. Nor am I going to limit them to 12. I may have read books that I liked that aren't on this list, esp. if it was early in 2012, and I've just plumb forgot b/c I've read so much since then. There are books that I own that came out in 2012 that I haven't gotten to yet. A lot of books came out in 2012 that I didn't read. Some I never even heard about. Some are in languages I don't read. Some I've been meaning to order but haven't yet. Finally: I read these books in 2012, even if they came out earlier, though most did not.
