Such education needs to begin well before admission (during undergrad school) and be ongoing. Grad school admission criteria and stats should reflect the state of the job market as should the types of courses and programs offered. Dual majors in education
or law might open lucrative career paths for graduates, or composition might offer a more utilitarian option than abstruse or glamorous specializations. Check out that Thomas Benson guy on the chronicle.com.
